Meet Laura Ingram

Laura Ingram is a professional singer-songwriter, artist development coach and vocal mentor who has spent more than two decades helping people find their voice—on stage, in the studio and within themselves.

Qualifications & Education

Laura Ingram is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, artist development coach and founder of Ingram Studios. With over twenty years of professional performance experience and nearly a decade of coaching experience, Laura combines industry expertise with evidence-based vocal training to help singers develop healthy technique, authentic artistry and lasting confidence.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music/Art History) and was awarded a jazz scholarship to the ANU School of Music while still in Year 12, during which she studied with ARIA Award-winning jazz vocalist Vince Jones. Laura has studied with renowned soprano Rachael Thoms and undertaken specialist training in the Estill Voice Model and Accent Method Breathing, developing particular expertise in helping singers build efficient breath support and sustainable vocal technique.

Committed to lifelong learning, Laura continues to stay up to date with advances in vocal pedagogy, voice science and artist development, ensuring her students benefit from both proven vocal techniques and contemporary industry knowledge.

Performance experience

Alongside becoming a vocal coach, Laura built her career as a professional performer, songwriter and recording artist. For more than two decades she has performed across Australia, earning a reputation for powerful vocals, emotional authenticity and captivating live performances.

Described by Triple J as an artist with “a level of soul you can't fake,” Laura's music blends soul, jazz, blues and rock influences into a sound that is both deeply personal and undeniably powerful. Her original music has been featured by Beat Mag, The Music, AU Review, Scenestr and radio stations around Australia, while reviewers have praised her ability to create performances that feel less like gigs and more like shared experiences.

Career highlights include performing with the acclaimed Women of Soul collective alongside Thndo, Kylie Auldist and Allysha Joy, supporting artists including Clare Bowditch and Caiti Baker, and launching her latest single Not Another Fool to a packed Melbourne audience.

As an active artist, Laura brings current, real-world industry experience into every lesson, helping students understand not only how to sing, but how to perform, write, record, release and grow as an artist.

Coaching & Artist Development Experience

Laura has been coaching singers since 2016 and founded Ingram Studios in 2018 with a vision to create a space where singers could receive high-level training while feeling genuinely supported, encouraged and safe to grow.

Since then, she has delivered more than 6,000 hours of coaching and worked with over 250 singers, songwriters and artists ranging from complete beginners to touring professionals.

While Laura works with singers at every stage of development, she is particularly passionate about helping emerging artists bring all aspects of their musicianship together. Her coaching combines vocal technique, performance skills, songwriting, artistry, mindset and career development, helping students grow not only as singers, but as complete musicians.

Her students have gained entry into music programs at institutions including Collarts, Box Hill Institute, Melbourne Polytechnic and JMC Academy. Others have progressed from private coaching to releasing original music, performing live and building their own artistic careers, including artists such as Elissa Parsons, Monica De Angelis and Psyarchy.

Laura has also coached established artists, including Hatchie, prior to a major recording and touring cycle, and Endrey before recording and touring throughout Europe.

Beyond one-on-one coaching, Laura regularly presents workshops and industry sessions, including her Heart of Gold Artist Development Workshop and speaking engagements at the Indie Music Summit. She remains actively connected to the Australian music industry through ongoing professional engagement and events such as BIGSOUND and One-of-One Conference.

At the centre of Laura's teaching philosophy is the belief that your voice is an extension of who you are. By developing the voice, mind and heart together, singers become more confident, more expressive and more deeply connected to both their music and their audience.
